When you toss and turn at night feeling the weight of the world on your shoulders, know I am the ruler over the darkness. As countless uninvited guests disrupt your sleep, do not be afraid. At night, the enemy is not temptation but the helpless feeling of being left alone in the silence to calm your fears. (Be Still and Listen for the Sound of Hope)

In the darkness, I am sovereign over both the light and dark. I am the one who fills heaven and earth and holds the world together. In the dark, there is no need to feel isolated and alone. Let Me help you befriend the night and recognize My presence that permeates everything with resurrection hope.

Let your soul abide in my love as the darkness surrounds you in the silent hours of the night. Remember, I created the day and night with purpose. In the quiet moments, do not be afraid and know I am there encouraging you. Cast and release all your cares upon Me and let your body rest and enjoy your bed tonight. (The Practice of Christian Meditation and Prayer)

Prayer: Lord, help me lay down and rest in you. I release my fears and anxiety, focusing my eyes on your kingdom. May your breath be my breath as I cast my worries upon you as I breathe. As I inhale, I breathe in your loving kindness for me. As I exhale, I release the thoughts troubling my soul. With each breath, I pray that you comfort me with your eternal presence in the darkness.

Scripture: even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you. Psalm 139:12 NIV

Who can hide in secret places so that I cannot see them?” declares the LORD. “Do not I fill heaven and earth?” declares the LORD. Jeremiah 23:24 NIV

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7 NIV
