The secret to loving your enemies is in the power of my unconditional love for you. You can love your enemies when you are confident that I love you. Unfortunately, when you experience abuse and neglect, it is not easy to believe you are loved unconditionally. Otherwise, you feel trapped in a world where your only experience is conditional love.

Instead of believing the Heavenly Father loves you, you see Him judging you and not liking you. There is a hidden clause somewhere I will reject you. You can know I will continually pursue you and never give up on you. (I Will Be Your Defender)

My love does not threaten or diminish who you are. Remember how I left the ninety-nine behind to search and find the one lost sheep. When you trust me for salvation, you recognize your safety and security are in my hands. Salvation means you experience no greater love than one who lays down his life for another. (God Comes Running for You and Me)

When I said to them, turn the other cheek when someone strikes you, contemplate your enemy is hitting me through you. The moment you experience my unconditional love, you can let go and trust in my grace. You can believe I will sustain and take care of you. I will preserve your life, and though you lose your life, I will save your life. I want you to experience my incredible gift of grace that you are loved. You are worthy because the Heavenly Father’s love is not conditional but unconditional. The secret to loving your enemies is in the power of my unconditional love for you.

Scripture:

But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, Mathew 5:44 NIV

Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. John 15:13 NIV

But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also. Mathew 5:39 NIV
