In the Emergency Room of Life

When you know something is not right in your body, I do not want you to be afraid to seek help. You know better than anyone else when you’re not feeling right. Don’t let the fear of the unknown paralyze you from acting. You have a thousand questions should I seek medical help or not. Trust me with your life; it is better to know than not know.

I hope someone you love can be there with you in the emergency room, but if you are alone yourself, know that I will be there to comfort and walk with you through it. As the nurses and doctors evaluate your condition, let my peace be ever-present with you. Call on me and know I will answer. I will draw near to you as you draw near to me, and you will sense my everlasting love for you. (I am with You and will watch over You)

Way past the time, you should be sleeping in the wee hours of the morning, and with the evaluations of patients like yourself, do not lose heart. Do not lose heart, for I am with you like no other time in your life. When you realize your life is in the balance, I am your ever-present strength behind the calm but fearful scenes. (Do not let Your Hearts Be Troubled)

When the doctor says, I am sending you for an MRI because your blurred vision might be a result of an aneurysm or stroke, I will give you the strength you need at that critical moment.

I understand you are thankful; you’re still alive. I know you have concerns about what your family and friends would do to carry on without you. Please do not fret about them, for I am with them too. Even as I faced death on the cross, the heavenly Father will comfort you in His arms too. You can experience calm assurance, that no matter what happens, everything will be all right. As you lay still for the MRI with its clattering drum-like sounds bouncing around your head, you can trust that I am the good Shepherd.

I will lead you by the still waters, as you pass through the valley of the shadow of death. My love for you will comfort you in that hour and moment. I will speak to you in your spirit and soul that all is well and will be well in your life. I have overcome death, and no matter the earthly outcome, you and your loved ones will dwell with me in the house of the Lord forever.

Scripture:

The LORD is my Shepherd; I shall not want; he makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters; he restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil; for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of my enemies; thou anointest my head with oil, my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever. Psalm 23 RSV
