The Weight of the World (Psalm 23)

As the weight of the world overwhelms, release your cares into the hands of God. In the hundreds of anxious thoughts residing in your head, let your heart contemplate prayerfully on the one idea of God’s love for you. “Throw all your worry on him because he cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7) Let go of the problems that trouble your soul and let Him carry your concerns away with Him into the heavenly realms.

Be mindful today that he cares for you. Let the opening words of Psalm twenty-three translate into peace for you. “The Lord is my Shepherd; I have everything I need. He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul.”

Repeat the verses silently and focus on the Lord is MY shepherd, and I have everything I need. He is enough for He indwells my heart. Just like a lamb doesn’t want to lie down during the day, ask the Father to make you lie down and quiet your mind in the green pastures. Take the time needed to lay aside all your troubling thoughts as you release them over and over to God. (Be Still and “Be”)

Sheep are fearful and will not go near running water. As your mind races with all sorts of disturbing doubts and fears, let God lead you to the still waters of His presence to calm your heart. Meditate on the quiet waters amid the raging waters of the emotional turmoil you feel in your life. As you focus the thoughts of your mind over and over on the fact, “He is everything you need,” you will begin to experience the promise of “He restores my soul.” Accept now. He is enough, and you will be still and at peace. My life in Christ possesses everything it needs, and the weight and cares of the world lift away in His presence.

Practice meditating on the twenty-third Psalm five times throughout your day as a prescription for spiritual health.
