Inhabit the Moment in the Presence of God

Scripture:

And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

We play a game in our minds about wanting to be anywhere else but where we are right now. Some days are worse than others when we are continually unsatisfied with what is happening and feel the need to move on from what we are doing. An uneasiness in our spirit pushes us to find something we think will be more exciting. We must recognize the trance-like state in our minds that tells us always to be on the run to see what will make us happy and content. However, when we slow our pace of moving and thinking, it helps calm us, and we perceive our world in a more positive light and focus. (Manage Your Inner Critic)

It is important not to let wayward thoughts dominate our thinking that we are missing out on something better all the time. Contemplation and meditation can help us become aware of our feelings and take notice of the ideas that cause us to race toward an unknown finish line we will never reach. It enables us to inhabit the moment to engage fully with our surroundings and release the need to arrive someplace to be happy. In the pause, we reflect, reboot, and retool to evaluate our situation and enjoy the peace found in the moment. Peace of mind is a moment-by-moment experience, letting our minds contemplate the love of the risen Messiah. (Mind Your Mind)

This week’s challenge is to inhabit the moment. When you start your day, pick a few times you will spend reflecting, evaluating, and being fully aware of everything around you. Your goal is to let your body, soul, and spirit inhabit the moment and enjoy the presence of God.
