You will be Perfect as your Heavenly Father is Perfect

It would be best if you weren’t discouraged trying to be holy and perfect like me. I know there is the command you will be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect, but I hope you realize trying to live like me is impossible, and it can make you feel like a failure. The perfection I desire is you might grow more and more in love with others.

The problem is that even though your heart is motivated to please me, it doesn’t take long to recognize you can’t be perfectly loving, compassionate, and merciful. That is why in trying to be perfect, some friends give up their faith unwilling to pretend; they walk the walk. They will no longer make demands on themselves or others to portray they are perfect when they know they are not. They don’t want to be a hypocrite.

When I taught about being perfect, I was teaching on the subject of loving your enemies and the Heavenly Father’s unconditional love for you. My hope is you will also love others unconditionally and be compassionate not only with your family and friends but your enemies too.

Spiritual growth and holiness are more than attending church or not committing murder or being a thief. Your ego can produce false humility based on self-works that results in spiritual pride. (My Self-Dominated Mind) My perfection is a result of growing in a loving relationship with me where unconditional love for others is a result of you letting me do the transforming work in your heart.

Please understand you will never be perfect in this life because no one is perfect except me. The perfection I desire for you is to do your best to live in unity with me and others. As you experience my forgiveness, grace, and love likewise, I pray you would show your love for me by moving toward perfection in loving others as I have loved you. Then you will be perfect as your Heavenly Father is perfect.

Scripture:

You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor I and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that?  And if you greet only your people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that?  Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect. Mathew 5:43-48
