The Lure of Wealth and Fame

Do not listen to the voices that tell you happiness is a result of accumulating money and notoriety. Wealth and fame are enslaving desires and hold you in their power by feeding on your fears for personal security and acceptance in the world. You need to know they are in opposition to the plans I have for you, and the pleasure and satisfaction you seek through them last for a fleeting moment and then disappear forever.

When you use your time on earth pursuing fame and fortune to impress others, you will compromise your soul’s true identity in my image to achieve it. If you live long enough, you will understand that most people don’t care a bit about your money and list of achievements. (Just Come Home)

Listen and let me feed your soul, not your flesh and ego. The drive to be the center of attention in your life causes most of your problems and heartaches. You fight and quarrel and don’t get along with one another because you don’t get what you want and desire from them. Ask and trust me that I will give you what you need.

Seek my kingdom and delight yourself in me, and I will give you the desires of your heart. You will never be happy even if you gain all the wealth and fame of the world. What you seek will never be found in anything this world offers. The emptiness and loneliness subside when you contemplate on my presence and experience that a day in my dwelling place is better than a thousand elsewhere. Open your heart, focus on me, and taste the riches of the heavenly realm on earth today.

Scripture:

Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4 NIV

What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you? You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God. James 4:1-2 NIV
