Love God and Love One Another

In Mathew twenty-two, Jesus responded to a question of what is the greatest commandment. “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” He declared the second is like it: “Love your neighbor as yourself.’ He then concluded, all the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

Jesus summed up all theological discussions by saying there are two commandments to judge the character of a person’s spirituality and relationship with God. The first is to love God, and the second is to love one another. Everything else written in the New Testament is a commentary on how to live out those commands. (The Practice of Christian Meditation and Prayer)

However, as Christians, we tend to concentrate on everything but that truth. Let us err on the side of loving others and not judging others to see if they believe the exact way we do. Lord, forgive us for automatically judging instead of loving others.

Scripture:

Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ Mathew 22:37-39 NIV
