God speaks to Elijah in a soft and gentle whisper. It is in the whisper we like Elijah listen to hear the eternal voice always present. We listen best to that voice when we quiet the noise and chatter in our heads. The Lord is ever passing by us, but we are often moving in the opposite direction. We seek and search to find God in a sundry of places. God speaks through the wind, the earthquake, and fire, but communicates with us spirit to spirit. God’s presence is everywhere, and in everything and the resurrected Christ is a resident guest within our hearts. (We All Need a Quiet Place one on one with God)

Contemplative prayer is a way to quiet the noise, distracting us from the awareness of the presence of God in our life. In the quiet, God speaks in the sanctuary of our hearts like no other place of worship. Work at calming the winds that swirl with the cares of the world in your mind. Find your footing in Christ as your earth shakes with profound losses and grief. Let the fire of my spirit consume the things that eat and destroy your hope for the future. Let my peace and presence be a fountain of water restoring your soul. Listen to the gentle whisper of God that always speaks life to your being. (Being Aware of Gods presence in your Life)

Scripture:
The LORD said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the LORD, for the LORD is about to pass by.” Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake came a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave. Then a voice said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” 1 Kings 19:11-13
